Kenkey is a typical Ghanaian dish made from fermented white corn, wrapped in dried corn husks which is widely consumed throughout the country from the Ga and Fante inhabited regions of Ghana.
The Ga tribe calls it komi and the Fante tribe calls it dokono. Kenkey is often enjoyed with fried fish, shrimps, fried eggs or sardines and accompanied by red, green or black pepper sauce. This dish is consumed throughout the year. It is also the main fermented food of Ghanaian cuisine.
